Habitat dedicates 11th home and hands keys over to a deserving ...

March 25, 2012 ? Moses Lake, Washington. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake held a home dedication on Sunday, March 25 to celebrate the completion of their 11thhome in the Moses Lake community and to officially hand over the keys to Kevin and his daughter Jasmine.

The sun was out in Moses Lake making this a perfect day for everyone involved. Over 75 people gathered at the new home to give a dedication. Prayers were giving, Habitat?s mission read and an overview of how the home was built was given to those in attendance.

Lee Creiglow, Habitat?s Project Manager said, ?The build went really well, we worked from September through February and were able to partner with lots of businesses in town to complete the home.?

Larry Dennis, Habitat Board Member and Building Committee, said ?Lee took a personal interest in the project, he made it a home for Kevin and his daughter. It?s a great location and will benefit the community.?

The new homeowners were then introduced by Habitat Board Member and Volunteer Coordinator Cynthia Swan. Kevin, the new homeowner said, ?This is a new beginning for Jasmine. She?s never had her own room. I?ve been homeless and have had some really hard times in my life. I?ve turned my life around and come full circle. I want to thank everyone for making this happen for us. I hope I can give back and help Habitat in the future.?

Heather Diffley-Persicke, Store Manager of Lowe?s in Moses Lake, presented Kevin and Jasmine with gifts and congratulations. They look forward to a continued relationship with Habitat for Humanity.

Another strong support of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake is the local Moses Lake Grocery Outlet. Owners Paul and Kris Emerson were in attendance and presented Kevin with a $250 gift certificate as well as stocking cupboards throughout the home. Kris said, ?Stuffing the pantries of Habitat homes has been a long running tradition in Grocery Outlet. Paul and I have done this for the last eight years and are always honored when we are invited to participate. We love that Habitat for Humanity is a hand up and not a hand out. We feel this program gives people ownership not only in their homes, but in their communities. For Paul and me being able to support a new homeowner is a priviledge. They are the ones that did all the hard work, we just put food in a cupboard. They are the ones turning a house into a home and if we get to help in that then it is a win-win for us both.?

Next on the agenda was the Blessing of the House led by Paster Deverett Buttrick and then a Prayer Dedicating the home & family led by Paster Mike Alvarado. The attendees were also able to participate by sharing their blessings to the home, family and to Habitat.

The handing over the keys and the ribbon cutting was lead by Bob Brinly, Vice President of Operational Excellence and Community Affairs from REC Silicon. REC supports Habitat for Humanity every year by participating in the annual Festival of Trees fundraiser. This past year they purchased two holiday trees in support of Habitat. Bob said, ?REC Silicon was proud to attend the ribbon cutting for Habitat?s 11th home. The event showcased the ideals of Habitat for Humanity: broad community involvement; leveraging donations through volunteer support; and involving the recipients in the process. Seeing the excitement in Kevin and Jasmine?s eyes and the outpouring of support from all attending the ceremony made it a wonderful event and experience.? Bob and Jasmine cut the ribbon to the home together.

Curt McFarland, Co-President of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake said, ?Our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate is deeply grateful to the community for making it possible for another family to make a house their home. This is Habitat?s eleventh local home build. It is our privilege to work with so many others in offering a practical expression of the love of Jesus to this family and to our community.?
